iOS5 Messages Conversation Screen Not Updating
[Update 10/22/2011]
Oddly enough I’ve rebooted my phone and the problem is no longer reproducible. There most definitely a bug before, not sure what caused it to disappear now.
I just installed iOS5 on my iPhone 4 (AT&T). I’m running iOS 5.0 (9A334). One thing I’m immediately noticing is that the iOS5 Messages conversation screen doesn’t update when a new message comes in. The “back” button in the upper-left updates to indicate a new unread message has arrived, however the conversation screen doesn’t update. One has to go back to the Conversations list screen, then back into said conversation to see it update with the latest message. I just noticed this and will post screenshots shortly.

My wife is experiencing the same thing with her phone. However it only happens when using iMessage to me… I happen to have it setup on my iPad and iPhone… No matter which I txt from she has to back out to the previous screen and then back into the conversation screen to get the updated txt msg.
When the conversation is updated, the order of messages is preserved… Meaning if she sent me a message between my two messages to her when she goes out and back in the two messages she hadn’t seen are displayed in the appropriate order with hers in between mine.
Have you found any other threads about this? Are you on a 3GS?

Same thing happened to me. Also on an iphone4 with AT&T, and this problem was happening with both imessage and regular texts. However, I re-started my phone, and now it seems to be fixed. This was happening on 10/26 and 10/27

I too am experiencing the same problem, but it also happens when I’m texting with someone outside of iMessage. It is annoying when I must leave the conversation in order to refresh it. This was not a problem before I updated my iPhone 4′s iOS4 to iOS5.
